Ambassador Lukman Faily met with Congressman Jim McDermott (D-WA) at his office on June 26, 2013. The two affirmed the strong friendship between Iraq and the United States and discussed efforts to strengthen the relationship between the Iraqi Parliament and U.S. Congress.
During the meeting, Ambassador Faily provided Congressman McDermott with an overview of the present economic and political situation in Iraq. They also discussed the conflict in Syria and its implications on Iraq and the region.
