Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces Dr. Haider Al-Abadi Meets US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff

Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces Dr. Haider Al-Abadi met in his office today the US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Martin Dempsey.

During the meeting, they reviewed recent developments and progress made by Iraqi forces in the fight against ISIL. The Prime Minister reiterated that the victories achieved by the Iraqi armed forces are part of a strategic plan to liberate all Iraqi territory. He expressed confidence that the goal would be achieved.

For his part, General Dempsey congratulated the Iraqi government and the Iraqi people on the recent victories against ISIL, stressing the United States' commitment to supporting Iraq and its armed forces and to provide air cover, armament and training. He also praised the Iraqi government’s recent actions with regards to conducting military reforms.
