Foreign Minister Holds Bilateral Discussions with Iranian Counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif

Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim met with Iranian Foreign Minister Mr. Mohammad Javad Zarif in Baghdad to discuss relations between Baghdad and Teheran.

The discussions comes prior to a state visit that will be paid by Dr. Hassan Rouhani the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in the context of maintaining high-level communication and consultation on managing various issues, and regional challenges, to contribute to security and stability in the region.

Minister Alhakim expressed Baghdad's aspiration to enhance various areas of cooperation with Tehran, including the political, economic, security and cultural fields.

Minister Alhakim stressed on the main principles of the Iraqi stance on regional crises, which are based on the importance of allowing political solutions to take place, and the adoption of dialogue between disputed parties, and the non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries.
