Foreign Minister Mohamed A. Alhakim met with Secretary General of the Arab League Mr. Ahmed Abu Gheit in Beirut on the sidelines of the joint meeting of Foreign Ministers, and Ministers of the economic and social Council in preparation for the Arab Economic and Social Development Summit in its fourth session.
During the meeting they touched on several issues of common concern, especially in relation to the future role which Iraq will play in the Arab League especially through its presence in the Arab League organisation and the nominating of Iraqi personnel to the positions within it. Minister Alhakim also touched on Arab regional issues including: Syria, Yemen, and the role of the Arab group and the coordination of their efforts in the United Nations.
