Iraq earmarks funds for emergency medical aid

The Iraqi government said Friday (July 11th) it has allocated 12 billion Iraqi dinars ($10.3 million) to provide hospitals and health centres across the country with emergency medical aid.

"The cabinet decided to allocate 12 billion Iraqi dinars to buy medicines, antibiotics, bandages, vaccines for children and pregnant women and the medical supplies needed for surgeries,” said government media advisor Ali al-Musawi.

The funds also will be used to purchase generators to distribute to hospitals, he told Al-Shorfa.

The emergency aid will target hospitals in areas which frequently receive terror victims, he said.
