Iraq Wins Membership in UNHRC

"As a result of the two-year-specific-efforts made by Iraqi ministry of Foreign Affairs, through its Permanent Mission to the United Nations and Human Rights Department; Iraq was elected member of the United Nations Human Rights Council for the first time, by UN General Assembly, along with 13 other countries. UN Human Rights Council is a UN inter-governmental body that was established on 2006. UNHRC is responsible for promoting and protecting human rights around the world, addresses human rights violations, and makes recommendations thereon, as well as, the council holds its regular meetings at the United Nations Office at Geneva."
