Adding that “ Iraq has achieved great progress that led in 2019 to be delisted from the global list of International Financial Action Task Force (FATF) for countries with strategic deficiencies in their AML/CFT process”

BAGHDAD — Iraq has honored a police officer who stopped a would-be suicide bomber at a checkpoint in a northern Baghdad neighborhood this week.

Saad Ali Thabit’s brave act was caught on a closed-circuit camera on Wednesday in the Kadhimiyah neighborhood and has since gone viral, racking up hundreds of thousands of views on Thursday.

H.E. promised continued support for local agencies throughout the reconstruction process and praised local security forces for their bravery in fighting Al-Qaeda insurgents.

President Salih got a phone call today Saturday evening from US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
During a phone conversation, the President and US Secretary of State discussed the latest security and political developments at the regional and international levels, emphasized the need to protect Iraq's sovereignty and respect its independent national decision.

President Salih announced that, unwillingness of the voters to participate in the elections anymore is a clear evidence of necessity to amend the General Election Law as it is an urgent national entitlement to build the Iraqi State, to reform its institutions as well as eradicating the financial and administrative corruption so as to promote freedom and democracy across the country.

Prime Minister Abadi and General Dempsey reviewed recent developments and progress made by Iraqi forces in the fight against ISIL.
