President Salih received Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili in New York City today, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings.
During the meeting, both presidents discussed further securing bilateral relations, as well as the importance of improving and broadening mutual cooperation in all relevant fields as befits two friendly nations.
Together, they also reviewed recent political and security developments in the region and around the world.

The leaders emphasized continued support for Iraq in the areas of armament, training and advice, as well as supporting efforts to address the consequences of falling oil prices.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has responded to President Barham Salih’s call to move its regional headquarters to Baghdad instead of Amman.
The Organization announced the consent following a telephone conversation between President Salih and the Director General of the Organization, Ms. Audrey Azoulay, in cooperation with the Iraqi Ministry of Culture.

Ambassador Al Khirullah met with the head of the Institute for Women’s Health, Mrs. Valerie Huber on August 2; they discussed ways to enhance women's health care & cooperate with the institute to build partnership that provides training opportunities to qualify women for joining labor market in the private sector.

"As we affirm our determination to ensure that Christians remain our brothers and partners in the rebuilding of Iraq, we pledge to them our utmost efforts to achieve this goal and to cleanse all Iraqi towns from Daesh so that all displaced people can return to their homes in dignity and with their constitutional rights and freedoms intact."

The Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halboosi accompanied by a parliamentary delegation, met the US Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi.

‏The meeting discussed enhancing bilateral relations, activating parliamentary friendship committees and continuing joint cooperation in all fields.

‏The meeting affirmed the openness of Iraq to the international community to proceed with reconstruction and investment by attracting international companies, including US companies, as well as providing job opportunities for citizens and eliminating unemployment.

The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Washington D.C. organized an art exhibition on December 3rd, 2022, that included the work of numerous gifted children, including paintings and video clips on childhood fantasies and stories. The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Washington organized a seminar entitled “Twenty Years of Challenge and Achievement: The Iraqis’ Journey Toward Democracy” which highlighted the progress achieved by Iraq in the field of democracy and political stability, the positive developments that Iraq has witnessed, and the importance of moving forward in the process of overcoming challenges and celebrating achievements.
