Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim met with Estonian Foreign Minister Mr. Urmas Reinsalu on the sidelines of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly.
Minister Alhakim stressed Baghdad’s keenness to develop bilateral relations with Estonia in various fields, calling on the Estonian side to establish a real partnership, especially in the economic aspects,which can provide development opportunities in both countries.
Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim gave Iraq’s speech at the Article 11 Conference on Facilitating the Entry into Force of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty.
At the outset of the speech, the Minister expressed Iraq’s desire to participate actively in enhancing the role of international conventions and instruments in the field of disarmament and nuclear non-proliferation, and to help develop them in a way that contributes to the maintenance of international peace and security.
President Salih met today with the Prime Minister of Italy, Mr. Giuseppe Conte. The meeting occurred on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
President Salih said that Iraq seeks to establish productive and mutually beneficial relations with Italy and the European Union.
Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim met with Lebanese Foreign Minister Mr. Gebran Bassil. The two Ministers discussed bilateral relations between Baghdad and Beirut and ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
President Salih met His Excellency Donald Trump, President of the United States of America, in New York today. He began the meeting by noting the incredible resurgence of business and civic life that Iraq is experiencing.
President Salih went on to highlight the need to support hard-won stability in Iraq, and to complete the victory against terrorism through construction and development. He also noted the importance of working to develop more positive regional dynamics so as to enhance security and stability.
President Barham Salih asserted that his message during his participation in the work of the United Nations General Assembly, stresses that "Iraq has no intention of being dragged into regional conflicts. Iraq intends to protect its own interests and will not allow itself to be used as a base to attack its neighbors or as a battleground for their proxies." Read more

Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim Ali participated in the Climate Summit in the Iraqi delegation headed by the President of the Republic Dr. Barham Saleh.
The Summit took place at United Nations Headquarters in New York, and aims to mobilize support for an international agreement on climate change, and work on the ground in all sectors and discuss national action.
