The two sides discussed ways to strengthen and develop bilateral relations between Baghdad and Moscow in all fields, including: areas of a strategic and vital nature politically, economically, and commercially expressing keenness to exchange common interests. Minister Hakim called for the importance of enhancing Arab cooperation, preserving the security and stability of the region, and strengthening its level to face all challenges.

The two Ministers discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries and boost bilateral relations. Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim met with the UN Secretary-General’s Special Adviser on Sexual Violence in Armed Conflict, Ms. Pramila Patten, on the sidelines of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
The meeting reviewed the efforts exerted by international organizations in supporting Iraq in various fields.
Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim met with Syrian Foreign Minister Mr. Walid Al-Moallem on the sidelines of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly.
Minister Alhakim affirmed the depth of Iraqi-Syrian relations, and Iraq’s adherence to elevating them to broader prospects that serve the interests of the two brotherly peoples, noting the convergence of views on the need to adopt political solutions to resolve crises and not to interfere in the affairs of other countries.

Minister Alhakim stressed the need to expedite the process of appointing the Ambassador of Iraq to the Republic of Cyprus, and called for the convening of the quartet meeting of foreign ministers: Iraq, Jordan, Greece and Cyprus; in line with what was agreed at the tripartite summit held in Amman on 14/4/2019, Minister Alhakim pointed to the importance of the World Conference on Reconstruction and Development in Iraq scheduled to be held in Nicosia from 6-12 12/2019.
