The meeting focused on the bilateral relations between Iraq and the United States, with discussions on the Iraqi government`s intention to transition the relationship beyond security and military aspects to broader areas in economic, oil, cultural sectors, as well as in education and investment, in line with the Strategic Framework Agreement.

PRESIDENT SALIH DURING GREETING HIS PALESTINIAN COUNTERPART: A NECESSITY TO EXERT EFFORTS TO ACHIEVE THE HOPES OF THE PALESTINIAN PEOPLE AND REALIZE THEIR FULL LEGITIMATE RIGHTS

President Barham Salih received H.E. Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian President and his accompanying delegation, at the Presidential Office in Baghdad on Monday, March 4, 2019.
An official welcoming ceremony was held. The national anthems of the two countries were played. The two Presidents inspected the Presidential Guards who lined up to salute them.
His Excellency expressed his great pleasure and welcomed the visit of the Palestinian President to Iraq, wishing him a fruitful and successful visit.

Statement: Ministry of Foreign Affairs Condemns Terrorist Attack in Ahwaz

The Iraqi Foreign Ministry expressed its strong condemnation and for the terrorist attack on Ahwaz, which resulted in the deaths of several members of the Iranian security services and civilians.

The Foreign Ministry reiterates Iraq's firm stance on the rejection of violence regardless of motives, reasons and in any country, which would tarnish the security and stability of the country.

The ministry expresses its condolences to the victims' families, the government and the people of the Islamic Republic, and wishes the wounded speedy recovery.
