The Committee on Foreign Affairs of the U.S. House of Representatives has scheduled a meeting on Wednesday, December 9, 2015, to consider H.R. 1654, a bill to “authorize the direct provision of defense articles, defense services, and related training to the Kurdistan Regional Government.”

The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Washington held an evening reception for a group of Iraqi and foreign professors and researchers who participated in the TARII Conference, a conference in which the embassy participated and discussed over two days (3-4 November) the various pieces of research regarding Iraq's history and its present culture. During the reception, Professor Peter Wynne, President of TARII, was recognized for his efforts in promoting academic cooperation between research institutions and researchers from Iraq and the United States.

President Barham Salih on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, mourned the Iraqi Archeologist Dr. Lamia al-Gilani, who passed away at the age of 80, in Amman.
His Excellency lauded the prestigious status of the deceased and her distinguished efforts in the field of archeology.

"We have received with deep pain and grief the news about the death of archaeologist Dr. Lamia al-Gilani, one of the first Iraqi women, who excavated the rich archaeological heritage of the country, and she was an expert in Sumerian seals.

President Obama welcomed Prime Minister Maliki to the White House, where the two discussed US-Iraq relations as they fall under the Strategic Framework Agreement; as well as counter-terrorism cooperation between the two countries.  

PM Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani is intended to make Iraq an attractive investment hub among the developing countries in the region. The government is actively heading towards activating investment as it has other complementary ideas to the Development Road Project by creating new cities & facilities. Iraq drew a chart for itself to be repositioned according to its regional surroundings, aiming to be a regional hub & a pillar for the stability in the Middle East. ...
