Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim received a phone call from the new British Foreign Secretary Mr. Dominic Raab.
Mr. Alhakim congratulated him on the occasion of his appointment as UK Foreign Secretary.
The two ministers discussed ways of enhancing cooperation in various fields, especially security and intelligence coordination and efforts to combat terrorism, and serve common interests Of the two friendly countries.

The Foreign Minister Stresses Importance of Maintaining Communication with the Investigation Team for Da’esh Crimes in Respect for Sovereignty and Jurisdiction of the Iraqi Judiciary

Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein received Mr. Karim Khan the Special Adviser and Head of the United Nations Investigation Team for the accountability for crimes committed by Da’esh.

During the meeting, a number of issues were discussed including, exchanging views on ways to enhance joint cooperation, maintaining contact with the adviser and his team in light of respect for Iraqi sovereignty, and the competence of the Iraqi judiciary to collect evidence to contribute to accountability of those involved, and to uncover and document the crimes of Da’esh.

The Foreign Minister Stresses that Stability of the Security Situation in Iraq has a Positive Impact on Whole Region

Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein met with the Japanese Ambassador to Iraq, Mr. Naofumi Hashimoto.

The Minister affirmed the depth of the historical relations between the two countries, and the Iraqi government’s efforts to strengthen relations by establishing ways for economic cooperation that benefit both countries, expressing Iraq’s desire to rebuild the economy, and for Japan to have an important role in it.

The Foreign Ministry held a memorial service for its martyrs who were victims of a terrorist bombing in 2009.
