Ambassador Faily and Mrs. Faily Welcome Iraqi Community in DC to Ramadan Iftar Event

On Saturday, July 27, 2013, Ambassador Faily and Mrs. Faily welcomed the Iraqi community in Washington, DC to a Ramadan Iftar event. The Ambassador and his wife extended their well wishes to the Muslim community in the United States on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.

Ambassador Faily delivered remarks, calling for peaceful coexistence and support of efforts that serve the stability, security, unity and integrity of Iraq as a country. The Ambassador also praised the constructive role of the Iraqi community in the United States, and called on them to continue contributing to rebuild and strengthen Iraq. Mr. Faily reiterated that the Embassy doors are open to all - to serve and care for Iraq’s national interests in the United States, without political partisanship or religious bias.

The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Washington, DC hosted the Iftar event and more than 250 people attended. Those in attendance included representatives of various Iraqi religious groups, politicians, media, business leaders and scholars.
