IHEC runs registration and voting process for voters abroad

The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of the Independent High Electoral Commission, Mr. Mukdad al Sharify confirmed on December 31, 2013 that the IHEC offices outside of Iraq will run the registration and voting process for Iraqis living abroad to coincide with the parliamentary elections inside Iraq on April 30, 2014.

The voting process of Iraqis living abroad will be managed by the IHEC unit of out of country voting (OCV) program management which will be connected with the offices in the host countries.

Further, the IHEC will coordinate with the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Iraqi embassies in the countries that the electoral offices will be opened to run the elections, as well as to facilitate the communications with the relevant government institutions in the host countries.

Mr. Sharify noted that the IHEC will conclude a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the host governments abroad in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Iraqi embassies.
