Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim met in Tehran with Iranian Foreign Minister Mr. Mohammad Javad Zarif on the sidelines of the visit of Excellency President Barham Salih to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Minister Zarif congratulated Minister Alhakim on the occasion of assuming the post of Foreign Minister in the new Iraqi government, wishing him success in his mission.
During the meeting the efforts and sacrifices made by Iraq in combating terrorism and eliminating terrorist groups were praised.
The two sides also discussed strengthening the relations between the two countries at all levels, especially the conditions of the Iraqi community in Iran, as well as activating the Joint Coordination Office concerned with the dredging and clean up of the Shatt al-Arab in addition to touching on the water issue between the two countries and the number of files that deal with trade and environment , that concern both countries and peoples.
