Iraqi President: Yazidi Female Survivors Law Must Be Applied, Enhancing and Coordinating National and International Efforts to Detect Missing Persons Are Vital

On Wednesday, June 16, 2021, the President of the Republic of Iraq, Braham Salih met with a number of Women survivors of Yazidi genocide who have been subjected to the most heinous violations and crimes of ISIS genocide. The meeting took place at al-Salam Palace in Baghdad.
President Salih was briefed by the members of the visiting delegation about the issues that they face.
It is essential to make every effort in order to overcome the difficulties that they face, the President said, while hailing the courage and steadfastness of the Women survivors in confronting the most heinous violations and crimes of ISIS genocide.
His Excellency President Salih spoke about how important it was to implement Yazidi Female Survivors Law extended to cover other segments of the population, calling for compensation, rehabilitation and education for survivors and ensuring a dignified life for them. There should be further national and international efforts in order to know the fate of the missing persons, he added.
The members of the visiting delegation commended President Salih's efforts and effective role in the passage of the bill, and hailed his pursuing their case since it began. President Salih's sustainable efforts helped the bill to be passed in order to redress the victims, they said.
