The Air Defense Command has detected a violation of Iraqi airspace which occurred through a drone plane belonging to the Turkish army. A refugee camp was bombed near the city of Makhmur, and two women’s lives were claimed from the camp on April 15, 2020. The Foreign Ministry expresses its condemnation in the strongest possible terms for these Turkish attacks which violate Iraqi sovereignty and contradicts the principles of good-neighborliness, and represents a grave violation of international humanitarian law and the provisions of the United Nations Charter. The Ministry calls for stopping of the bombing of Iraqi areas and respecting sovereignty and cooperation to ensure border security, as these repeated attacks by the Turkish side will not contribute to ensuring Turkey’s security and are not in the interest of security and stability in the region
