A Statement on the ninth anniversary of the terrorist bombing targeting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the United Nations Mission in Baghdad

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iraq recalled on August 19 the crime of assault by the terrorist groups in 2009, in which the ministry blew up dozens of martyrs of its guards, employees and diplomatic staff, in addition to injuring hundreds of wounded, and on the same date targeted the building of the United Nations Special Mission in 2003, which killed Mr. Sergio de Mello, the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, who provided much of the gift that will be preserved by the memory of the Iraqis as well as many of the staff of the International Mission.

At the same time we are reminding the great values ​​of the sacrifices of our martyrs colleagues from the Ministry's cadres, we are inspired by the determination and will to continue to convey the voice of Iraq to all regional and international forums, reflecting the greatness of this nation and the great sacrifices made by its sons for their just causes.

The foreign ministry will continue to pursue its appropriate national approach in the name of Iraq and its people, and insist on further diplomatic successes at various levels, which have led to the return of Iraq to its prominent international standing.
