Ambassador Highlights Regional Challenges and Bilateral Relations at Diplomatic Symposium in Washington

Washington, January 30, 2025 – The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the United States delivered a keynote address at a symposium titled “Iraq and Regional Challenges,” organized by the American Association of the Foreign Service Worldwide (AAFSW) at the U.S. Department of State. The event was attended by U.S. diplomats, ambassadors, and representatives from Arab and foreign missions.

In his speech, the Ambassador outlined Iraq’s internal challenges amid its democratic transition, as well as the broader regional repercussions, including the conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon, ongoing crises in Sudan, Yemen, and Libya, and the evolving situation in Syria, with the potential resurgence of terrorist organizations. He also highlighted the Iraqi government’s efforts to address these challenges and ensure national stability.

The Ambassador underscored the significance of Iraq-U.S. relations under the new administration of President Trump, emphasizing the opportunities to enhance cooperation in strategic sectors that serve the mutual interests of both nations.
