Foreign Minister Meets his Cypriot Counterpart in Brussels

Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim met with Cyprus’s Foreign Minister Mr. Nikos Christodoulidis on the sidelines of the fifth EU-LAS Ministerial Meeting in Brussels.

The two sides reviewed the bilateral relations and ways to strengthen them to meet the aspirations of the two friendly peoples.

Minister Alhakim stressed that the reconstruction of Iraq is a top priority for the Iraqi government after the elimination of Da’esh terrorist gangs, calling on Cypriot companies to invest in Iraq, pointing to the importance of facilitating the granting of entry visas to investors from both countries by granting them multiple entry types.

The two sides also discussed regional issues of common interest, Minister Alhakim stressed that Iraq is working to strengthen its presence on the Syrian border to prevent any infiltration, or loopholes that could be exploited by Da’esh terrorist gangs.

On his part, Mr. Nikos expressed his country's support for Iraq and its keenness to promote joint cooperation in all fields. He also proposed the idea of ​​conducting flights between Iraq and Cyprus in the framework of opening new horizons for joint action between the two countries.
