Forign Minister Meets EU Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management in New York

Foreign Minister Dr. Ibrahim Al-Jaafari met with the European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Mr. Christos Stylianides on the sidelines of the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York and reviewed the overall political situation in Iraq and the formation of the new government. .

Minister Al-Jaafari stressed the importance of enhancing joint cooperation between Iraq and the European Union for its significant impact in contributing to support Iraq in various fields, especially the humanitarian field in the cities that suffered from the devastation caused by the war against Daesh terrorist gangs, calling for the need to work and employ expertise to clear mines that continue to threaten the lives of citizens.

On his part, Mr. Christos Stylianides stressed that the support of Iraq will remain one of the priorities of the European Union and stated that : We will work to provide everything that will establish the foundations of security and stability in Iraq, pointing out that the European countries will continue to mobilize international support to provide the necessary supplies to help Iraq in the reconstruction, Noting that the past phase has witnessed the funding of some projects in the field of demining and will seek to increase the volume of cooperation in this area.
