In Presence of the President and Prime Minister of The Holy See Foreign Minister Participates in Christmas Mass

The President of the Republic of Iraq Dr. Barham Salih, Iraq’s First Lady, Prime Minister of Holy See Cardinal Pietro Parolin and Foreign Minister Mohamed A. Alhakim participated in the Christmas Mass held in Baghdad .The Foreign Ministry invited the heads of diplomatic missions and accredited international organizations in Baghdad.

The Mass, which was held at St. Joseph Chaldean Cathedral and inaugurated by Chaldean Patriarch of Iraq and the world, Patriarch Louis Raphaël Sako and attended by a large number of Iraqi officials, Muslim clerics, ambassadors, heads and representatives of Arab and foreign diplomatic missions, as well as a large number of Christian citizens.

In his speech, Patriarch Sako thanked the President of the Republic of Iraq, the Prime Minister of The Holy See and Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim praising the role of the Foreign Ministry in contributing to organising the mass and inviting diplomatic missions to attend this important and the first event of its kind in the country, praying for the building of Iraq’s and the world’s peace and the rejection of conflicts and divisions and violence, because it does not achieve peace and progress and prosperity.

The Foreign Minister takes this opportunity to extend his sincere congratulations to the Christians of Iraq on Christmas.
