Iraq, Jordan seek funding for rail link

The Iraqi and Jordanian governments have agreed to move forward with a plan to build a 420km railway line between the two countries.

The line would directly link the Iraqi capital city of Baghdad with the southern Jordanian port city of Aqaba, and would provide both cargo and passenger services between the cities. The two governments are currently exploring ways to fund the multi-billion dollar project now that all appropriate research has been completed.
