National Iraqi survey shows decline in poverty levels

The Iraqi Ministry of Planning recently announced a decline in poverty levels in the country from 2007 to 2012, alongside a rise in average per capita monthly expenditure.

The improvements can be attributed to various factors including increases in stability and revenues from oil production and export. In addition, the Iraqi anti-poverty strategy of 2010 allocated extra funds to support state projects including building low-cost housing compounds for impoverished people and granting them easy-term loans.
