The President of the Republic of Iraq Dr. Barham Salih and Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim visited the Vatican and met with Pope Francis.
An official ceremony was held to receive the President and the accompanying delegation and the Iraqi flag was raised on the Vatican to welcome the President.
The President invited the Pope to visit Ur and the house of Ibrahim Al-Khalil, where the religions emerged, the Pope promised to meet the invitation in a timely manner.
On his part, Pope Francis stressed the need to move forward in bringing stability to Iraq and the whole region, indicating the importance of giving priority to the language of dialogue and understanding and promoting peaceful coexistence.
