On January 29, 2014, the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) announced at a conference in Baghdad, a lottery to specify the numbers of political coalitions and entities participating in the upcoming parliamentary elections of 2014.
The Commission stressed the importance of the national project as a major step forward in the advanced polling process. Electoral cards to be presented by voters on the day of elections reflect strong progress in the Commission’s work to ensure fair elections, void of manipulation or fraud.
The Electoral Commission also assured that the election will be held as scheduled, on April 30, 2014.
