Foreign Minister Meets His Kuwaiti Counterpart in Riyadh

On Thursday, 16/9/2021, the Foreign Minister, Mr. Fuad Hussein, met his Kuwaiti counterpart, Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Sabah, on the margins of the joint ministerial meeting of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, held in Riyadh.

The two sides discussed several issues related to bilateral relations and the need to deepen them to achieve the interests of the two brotherly peoples, and discussed issues of common concern to Iraq, the State of Kuwait, and the Arab region. The Minister stressed Baghdad’s keenness to develop joint cooperation with Kuwait, expressing his aspiration to continue working to advance special relations between the two countries, and developing them at all levels. The two sides also discussed the activation and follow-up of the work of the Iraqi-Kuwaiti joint committee, and preparations for holding its work in Baghdad to discuss outstanding bilateral issues.

For his part, the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister thanked the Government of Iraq and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in particular for its tireless efforts and hard work to develop relations between the two brotherly countries, expressing his sincere congratulations on the success of the Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership, and the State of Kuwait is ready to support Iraq in all fields for the return of Iraq to its natural and pivotal place in region.
