Iraq's economic potential continues to grow. Citigroup says Iraq could be a $2 trillion economy by 2050 and Ambassador Faily has reiterated that increased investments in Iraq reflect a more positive era in U.S.-Iraq relations.

July 4, 2013 -- The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Washington, DC congratulates the American people and government on the occasion of Independence Day and wishes the American people further progress and prosperity.

"Transactional, Transitional, Transformational: Changing the Paradigm on American and Iraqi Cooperation," was organized by the Iraqi Cultural Office and the Kurdistan Regional Government Representation Office to the U.S., with support from the U.S. Department of State.

Mr. Nabil Elaraby contacted Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari to welcome Iraq's exit from Chapter VII sanctions and said he considers the decision an historical achievement.

Mr. Faily conveyed congratulations on behalf of the government and people of his country to the Iraqi pilots, who were trained in the United States, on their exceptional efforts to successfully pass the program.

BCIU welcomed Mr. Faily to a luncheon to discuss current and future business opportunities for Iraq and the United States.

Congressman McDermott welcomed Ambassador Lukman Faily to his office where the two discussed the importance of future cooperation between Iraq and the United States.

Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari met on June 25, 2013 at the United Nations Headquarters in Geneva to donate a model of the Hammurabi Obelisk to the European UN headquarters on behalf of the Government and people of Iraq.

The two sides discussed the Strategic Framework Agreement and the current situation in Iraq after recent elections.
