The Foreign Minister Meets his Cypriot Counterpart

Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim discussed with Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, the Cypriot Foreign Minister the prospects for upgrading bilateral relations between the two countries by signing a number of memorandums of understanding, and activating the memorandum of understanding for political consultations between Iraq and Cyprus.

The two Ministers also discussed accelerate the holding of the International Conference for Reconstruction and Development in Iraq.

PRESIDENT MEETS WITH US CENTRAL COMMAND CHIEF, MCKENZIE

Meeting with US Central Command Chief General Kenneth McKenzie today in Baghdad, President Salih highlighted the need to develop friendly relations between Iraq and US in addition to coordinate and collaborate in the fight against terrorism.
Furthermore, he underlined that Iraq will not be a theatre of regional and international conflicts.
We, therefore, seek to build good relations with all states and we have no interest in being dragged into conflicts not of our choice and making, President Salih added.

Foreign Minister Meets President of Palestinian Authority

Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim met with Mr. Mahmoud Abbas, President of the Palestinian Authority, and exchanged views on the so-called (Deal of the Century), affirming Iraq’s steadfast stance towards the Palestinian issue, achieving the Palestinian people their full rights, and establishing an independent state with Alquds as its capital.

This meeting comes in the context of Iraq’s presiding over the emergency meeting of the Council of the League of Arab States at the level of Foreign Ministers.
