The Iraqi government launched an extensive programme to provide free health coverage and distribute food aid, clothes and other items to Syrian refugees in Iraq. Public schools in Iraq will also be open to Syrian students.

Ambassador Faily participated in two business roundtables in San Jose and San Diego, California which were organized by the Embassy of Iraq and the U.S. Arab Chamber of Commerce to facilitate dialogue about current and future business opportunities between the two countries.

A group of 70 young people from all parts of Iraq and diverse ethnic and religious representations attended a youth training camp at American University. Participants noted that although their backgrounds were different, they were all united in humanity - a critical outcome from the session.

The new colleges and departments at Baghdad University will facilitate higher education in Iraq, and include programs in environmental studies, genetic engineering and various branches of the humanities.

The conference, hosted by the U.S.-Arab Chamber of Commerce, took place August 20-22, 2013 at the Pell Center for International Relations and Public Policy at Salve Regina University in Rhode Island and included leaders from the corporate community and others interested in promoting economic relationships between Arab countries and the United States.

His Excellency Hoshyar Zebari participated in a Center for Strategic and International Studies’ Statesmen’s Forum, “A View from Iraq and the Region," where he shared his views about critical international issues as they relate to Iraq’s role within the Middle East and around the world.

Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari met with Ambassador Beecroft days before the Foreign Minister's trip to the U.S., where he will continue bilateral discussions and implementation of the Strategic Framework Agreement.
