Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Ibrahim al-Jaafari delivered Iraq's speech in the International Conference on the Victims of Ethnic and Religious Violence in the Middle East, which was held in the Spanish capital, Madrid on 24 May 2017.

Foreign Minister Dr. Ibrahim Al-Jaafari stressed on the necessity of punishing the Zionist entity for its crimes and that the Islamic and Arab countries should rise to the level of the event. This came in a speech to the minister at the ministerial conference on the sidelines of the extraordinary summit of the Islamic Cooperation Council in Istanbul.

Foreign Minister Dr. Ibrahim Al-Jaafari praised the contributions of the participating countries to the Iraq Reconstruction Conference held in Kuwait on 12-14 February 2018, praising the distinguished role of the State of Kuwait in organizing this conference.

The minister said in a speech during the conference: "The cost required for the losses of Iraq is very large, but if we cannot cover the full needs, we should not ignore the assistance they provide, whatever it is." Foreign Minister, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Jaafari, received US Deputy Secretary of State Mr. John Sullivan and his accompanying delegation at his office in Baghdad to discuss bilateral relations between the two countries to serve the interests of both countries.

Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim praised the bilateral relations between Baghdad and Kuwait, expressing his appreciation for the positions of Kuwait in support of Iraq, the latest of which was presented by the Emir of the State of Kuwait to Iraq by donating $ 10 million to support efforts to combat Coronavirus
This came in a telephone call received by Minister Alhakim from his Kuwaiti counterpart, Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al-Muhammad Al-Sabah, who will deliver the sum to the World Health Organization in Geneva to purchase emergency equipment and medical supplies for Iraq.

President Barham Saleh accompanied by Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim attended a meeting with Czech Prime Minister Mr.Andrej Babiš in the presence of the Ministers of Trade and Culture on the sidelines of the LAS-European Summit in Sharm El-Sheikh.

Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein received a phone call from his US counterpart Mr. Mike Pompeo on his assumption of office as Foreign Minister of the Republic of Iraq wishing him success.

The Minister affirmed that Iraq seeks to build balanced relations with all countries of the world, and to adopt the principle of non-interference in internal affairs, respect for the sovereignty of Iraq, achieving common interests, and independence of the Iraqi decision.

Foreign Minister Ibrahim Al-Jaafari and his Lebanese counterpart, Mr. Gibran Bassil, held a press conference in Beirut on bilateral relations and reviewed the developments in the Arab, regional and international region.

Dr. Al- Jaafari stressed at the conference that Iraq is taking excellent steps towards integration, after Iraq managed to defeat terrorism. Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari met with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, and discussed efforts to counter the threat of ISIL by expanding military and intelligence cooperation between Iraq and the United States.
