Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim met in Tehran with Iranian Foreign Minister Mr. Mohammad Javad Zarif on the sidelines of the visit of Excellency President Barham Salih to the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Minister Zarif congratulated Minister Alhakim on the occasion of assuming the post of Foreign Minister in the new Iraqi government, wishing him success in his mission.

During the meeting the efforts and sacrifices made by Iraq in combating terrorism and eliminating terrorist groups were praised.

Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamed A. Alhakim met in Amman with Jordanian Foreign Minister Mr. Ayman Al- Safadi during a quick visit of Excellency President Barham Salih accompanied by the Foreign Minister and several officials. Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim met with Lord Tariq Ahmad of Wimbledon, Minister of State for the Commonwealth and the UN, and Special Representative of the Prime Minister. During the meeting they reviewed the progress of bilateral relations between Baghdad and London and means of strengthening them to serve the interests of both countries.

Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim met with Mr. Mahmoud Abbas, President of the Palestinian Authority, and exchanged views on the so-called (Deal of the Century), affirming Iraq’s steadfast stance towards the Palestinian issue, achieving the Palestinian people their full rights, and establishing an independent state with Alquds as its capital.

This meeting comes in the context of Iraq’s presiding over the emergency meeting of the Council of the League of Arab States at the level of Foreign Ministers.

Foreign Minister Mohamed A. Alhakim met with Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammad Abdul Rahman Al-Thani on Thursday 10/1/2019 on the sidelines of the official visit of President Barham Saleh to Qatar to discuss several issues of mutual interest.

Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim met with Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Mr. Adil Al-Jubeir on the sidelines of the Ministerial Meeting of the Global Coalition to Defeat Da'esh held in Washington.

The two sides discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, the overall developments in the region and ways to enhance joint cooperation in various fields and overcome the challenges particularly, cooperation to combat terrorism and extremism.
