Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim received a phone call from Lord Ahmed of Wimbledon, Secretary of State for Commonwealth Affairs, and the United Nations at the British Foreign Office.

The two sides also discussed the British economic support to Iraq, and ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between Baghdad and London to serve the interests of the two friendly countries.

Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein received phone call from Mr. Masoud Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, and Mr. Nechirvan Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Region.
During the call they expressed their wishes to the Minister for success in his duties, and to administer diplomatic work to achieve a steady advance in Iraq’s relations with the world, and achieve the interests of the people and their aspiration towards progress and prosperity.

Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein received a phone call from President of the Republic, Dr. Barham Salih and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Muhammad Al-Halbousi on his assumption of the position of Foreign Minister of the Republic of Iraq.

Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim received a phone call from Mr. Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations and discussed the latest developments in Iraq and the Middle East region, Mr. Guterres expressed the United Nations’ willingness to provide the necessary support to Iraq at all levels to ensure its unity and stability.

Foreign Minister Mohamed A. Alhakim received on Thursday 25/10/2018 a telephone call from US Secretary of State Mr. Mike Pompeo on the occasion of assuming duties of Foreign Ministry in the elected Iraqi Government.

Mr. Pompeo expressed the hope that the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries will witness further development and prosperity in all fields.

Foreign Minister Mohamed A. Alhakim received a telephone call from the Arab League Secretary General Mr. Ahmed Abu Gheit, in which they touched on the last update on the Arab Arena and the preparations for holding the Arab Economic Summit in Beirut during this month, as well as discussing cooperation to enhance the relations between the Arab parties to serve the interests of the Arab countries.

Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim signed with his Saudi Arabian counterpart Mr. Ibrahim Al-Asaf a memorandum of understanding on political consultations between the two countries.

This memorandum will be of great importance as it will open the horizons of bilateral political and broad discussions, thus contributing to the convergence of views on issues of mutual interest and the realization of a common vision for further cooperation on many issues.

Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein stressed the importance of the joint relations that bind Iraq and the United States of America, and the need to develop them in various fields, especially the development of banking relations between the two sides, expressing his aspiration to benefit from the banking expertise of American banks.

Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim summoned the Charge d’affaires at the US Embassy in Baghdad, Mr. Brian McFeeters in the absence of the US Ambassador in Iraq.
During the meeting they reviewed the progress of bilateral relations between Baghdad and Washington, and ways to strengthen them to serve the interests of the two countries, in addition to issues related to intelligence and military cooperation and the fight against terrorism according to the priorities of Iraq and the vision of the Commander in Chief of the Iraqi armed forces.
