Iraqi Foreign Minister Dr. Ibrahim Al-Jaafari met with the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Office, Mr. Vladimir Vornikov and Mrs. Michèle Coninsx Executive Director of the Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate on the margins of the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York and discussed the overall political and security situation in Iraq, and the international support provided for Iraq in the fight against terrorism.

Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim met with UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Mr. Filippo Grandi in Geneva on the sidelines of the 40th session of the Human Rights Council.

The meeting discussed the humanitarian situation in Iraq and stressed the need of Iraq for the efforts of the United Nations and humanitarian organizations because the legacy of the war on terror was very strong on the Iraqis and called for the importance of expanding the work of the UNHCR and providing more necessary supplies for displaced families , expressing thanks and appreciation for the efforts... Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim met with Mr. Geir Pedersen , the UN special envoy to Syria.

Minister Alhakim stressed the importance of resolving the Syrian crisis by peaceful means, and relying on dialogue in order to reach a peaceful solution to the crisis, expressing Iraq’s welcome of the initiatives that lead to ending the conflict and cease-fire, while stressing the importance of the Syrian-Syrian solution.

On the sidelines of the human rights council meetings in Geneva, the foreign minister Dr. Ibrahim Al-Jaafari met on 1 arch 2017 the Deputy of Secretary-General of the United Nations for humanitarian partnership in the Middle East and Central Asia Mr. Rashid Khalikom.

During the meeting, they discussed the situations that Iraq passes through in its war against Da'esh terroristic gangs, and the humanitarian situations of the displaced people.

Foreign Minister Dr. Ibrahim Al-Jaafari met with Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad in Damascus and discussed the enhancement of joint cooperation and the opening of the border crossings between the two countries, in addition to reviewing the developments taking place in the region and internationally.

Foreign Minister, H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein and the accompanying delegation met٫ on 25 June 2021 with the Spanish Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism, H.E. Mrs. María Reyes Maroto.
