Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Mr. Sameh Shoukry on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference / Session (56).

The two sides discussed the importance of activating security and intelligence cooperation, and exchanging information between the two countries in the field of combating terrorism.

Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim delivered Iraq’s speech at the ministerial meeting of the Global Coalition to Defeat Da’esh in Washington.

The minister began the speech by praising the support of the countries of the global coalition to Iraq in its war against terrorism in various fields.

Foreign minister Dr. Ibrahim Al-Jaafari said in a speech he delivered during the ancient civilizations forum in Athens, that Iraq is the first civilization in the world, and it is seven thousand years from now was the birth of the civilization in the world, it was in the Mesopotamia of southern Iraq from Omara, Nasiriya and Al-Basra and other regions.

Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim handed over antiquities to the Minister of Culture and Tourism , Mr. Abdul Amir Al-Hamdani that had been acquired by the Foreign Ministry from several countries through coordination between the Iraqi embassies with the countries in which these antiquities were taken from Iraq by illegal means.

Foreign Minister, H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein, made a phone call to his Emirati counterpart, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to congratulate him on the occasion of the election of the UAE as a non-permanent member of the Security Council for the period 2022-2023.

Foreign Minister, H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein delivered the speech of the Republic of Iraq at the consultative meeting of Arab foreign ministers held on 15 June 2021 in Doha, in which he emphasized Iraqi government’s efforts to prepare for a meeting aiming at alleviating the situation in the region, which would positively effect the internal situaion in Iraq, with the participation of all neighboring countries, Arab and Islamic countries, in addition to the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), and the Arab Republic of Egypt.

Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim made a phone call to the Omani Foreign Minister Mr. Yusef bin Alawi, and the two sides exchanged congratulations on the occasion of the holy month.

Minister Alhakim stressed the depth of fraternal relations that bind Iraq with Oman and expressed the interest of the Iraqi government in strengthening bilateral cooperation to achieve the interests of the two friendly peoples, and his aspirations for more progress and prosperity to the Sultanate.

Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim attended the start of the meeting of the Planning and Budget Committee of Asian Parliaments with the participation of a number of high-level government officials, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Mr. Mohammed Halbousi , Members of the Council and ambassadors of countries accredited to Baghdad.
The conference aims to develop visions for security, peace and development for all countries, remove barriers to strengthen relations and activate common interests with the current situation in the region and Asia.

Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim participated in the meeting held with President Mr. Barham Salih and French President Mr. Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Palace on Monday, 25/2/2019.

The bilateral relations between the two countries were discussed and a number of Iraqi files of interest to the French side, mainly: the reconstruction of the liberated areas, the return of the displaced people to their areas and mechanisms for restoring stability to Iraq after the historic victory over terrorism.
