CNBC: Interview with Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi

CNBC’s Hadley Gamble sat down with Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi in Davos to talk about the country’s progress, economy and fight against the Islamic State. The interview, held during the annual World Economic Forum, began with the prime minister discussing the war against ISIS: “we are achieving victory over ISIS. We have liberated large areas of Iraq from ISIS control. ISIS are on the run now, and they have been defeated in many areas. We have planned for this year, 2016, to get ISIS out of Iraq.

Clarification on status of the Development Fund for Iraq

Washington, DC (June 5, 2014) – In response to several queries regarding the U.S. government’s recent decision to terminate immunities granted to the Development Fund for Iraq and other Iraqi entities, the Embassy of Iraq would like to make the following clarification:

The Republic of Iraq welcomes the decision by the U.S. government to remove decade-old immunities that were granted to protect certain Iraqi financial entities and sectors from lawsuits following the collapse of Saddam Hussein’s regime.

Britain boosts Iraq military trainers to combat Islamic State

The United Kingdom will send an additional 125 military trainers to Iraq to counter the rising threat from the Islamic State, Prime Minister David Cameron said Sunday at the G-7 summit.

The prime minister's office said the military personnel were being provided at the request of Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi. They will chiefly help Iraqi forces learn how to deal with improvised explosive devices, or IEDs.
