Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim met with Dr. Rola Dashti, Executive Secretary of ESCWA. The two sides discussed the importance of cooperation between the ESCWA and Iraq in an effective manner, working to provide opportunities for economic well-being and social development, and enhancing cooperation among member countries to achieve regional integration in the UN reform project.

The Foreign Ministry expresses its rejection and condemnation of the violation of the sovereignty of Iraq by the US forces through the bombing of the headquarters of the Military , police, and the Popular Mobilization Forces which are Iraqi national forces that defended Iraq and its unity and have fought valiantly, and stopped the expansion of Da’esh to the countries of the region, and the world.

Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs regrets that the authorities of the province of Catalonia declared unilateral separation, which contradicts the principles of the Spanish Constitution of 1978, that this decision would endanger security and peaceful coexistence in the Kingdom of Spain.

The Pope’s visit to Iraq, Mesopotamia, the land of Messengers and Prophets, and the homeland of Ur and Prophet Abraham represents a historic event and is considered support for all Iraqis.

It also represents a message of peace to Iraq and the entire region, affirms the unity of the humanitarian position in confronting extremism and conflicts, and promotes diversity, tolerance and coexistence.

Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamed A. Alhakim met in Amman with Jordanian Foreign Minister Mr. Ayman Al- Safadi during a quick visit of Excellency President Barham Salih accompanied by the Foreign Minister and several officials. Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim met with the UN Secretary-General’s Special Adviser on Sexual Violence in Armed Conflict, Ms. Pramila Patten, on the sidelines of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
The meeting reviewed the efforts exerted by international organizations in supporting Iraq in various fields.

Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim Head of the Iraqi side and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Yury Borisov Head of the Russian side, signed the joint meeting minutes of the eighth session of the joint Iraqi-Russian committee.

They agreed to develop and enhance mutual cooperation in various productive and service sectors, as well as taking all measures to remove obstacles that face trade and investment between the two countries, and identify the mechanism by which bilateral cooperation is activated.

Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein delivered the speech of Iraq at the high-level session of the Conference on Disarmament, which was held virtually on 22/2/2021, in which he affirmed the Iraqi government’s adherence to disarmament and non-proliferation agreements and treaties, believing that universal accession to international agreements related to weapons of mass destruction and universal compliance with them without discrimination, and the elimination of these weapons is one of the main pillars that promote global peace and stability, noting that the spread of the Corona virus pandemic... President Salih got today a phone call from US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

Over the phone conversation, President Salih and Mr. Mike Pompeo reviewed the bilateral relations between the both countries and the ways of boosting these relations. The importance of increasing stability and security within the country as well as dealing with the challenges in the ways that contribute to consolidating Iraq's security and its citizens' rights and reinforcing its democratic experience, they deliberated.
