The Embassy recently celebrated the conclusion of its summer internship program. We were fortunate to have five stellar interns who contributed to different activities throughout the summer, including participating in workshops about Iraqi culture, promoting tourism to Iraq and researching and writing about political affairs and bilateral US-Iraqi relations. We thank them for a wonderful summer!

Celebrating the overwhelming victory of our Armed Forces,our Holy Popular Mobilization Movement, the Peshmerga and the tribal fighters in Mosul, and the liberation of the city from the Claws of 'Daesh', the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Washington DC has the honor to invite the gracious members of its community to share the Event which will be held by the Embassy to celebrate this grand national occasion, at the Embassy Consular Section , on Thursday July 13th , from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Address:

The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Washington, in cooperation with the General Authority for Antiquities and Heritage is following up the sale of the Assyrian antiquities exhibited at the Christi auction belonging to the period of Assyrian Governor Ashurnasirpal II , which was exhibited at the Theological Seminary of Virginia. To prove its belonging to Iraq, the Iraqi embassy communicated with the parties involved and informed that this piece is under the protection of the law of Antiquities of Iraq.

On 5 July 2018, the European Parliament voted on the resolution (P8_TA-PROV (2018) 0280) containing the approval of the proposal of the Iraqi Embassy in the European Union to dedicate a world day each year as a memorial to the victims of Da'esh and Al Qaeda gangs and the world.

President Barham Saleh accompanied by Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim attended a ceremony and reception of President Abdul Fattah Al-Sisi for the Iraqi delegation in the presence of the Ministers of Trade and Culture on the sidelines of the LAS-European summit in Sharm el-Sheikh.

Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein arrived in Washington at the head of the negotiating delegation to hold a round of strategic dialogue on Wednesday, between Iraq and the United States of America.
The Iraqi delegation in this negotiating round will be headed by Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein, and the US delegation will be headed by Secretary of State Mr. Michael Pompeo.
This round of negotiations comes as a preparation to the dialogue that Prime Minister Mr. Mustafa Al-Kadhimi will lead from the Iraqi side with the US side led by US President Donald Trump.

Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim delivered Iraq's speech at the high-level meeting of the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva, in which he affirmed the Iraqi Government's adherence to disarmament, non-proliferation and disarmament treaties to promote peace and global stability.

Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim gave a lecture at the Dutch Clingendael Institute of International Relations, titled: “Iraq in the Middle East: Battleground or Bridge Building.”

Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim held a telephone conversation with appointed Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

Minister Alhakim expressed his congratulations on his appointment as Prime Minister of Kuwait, wishing him success in serving Kuwait and its brotherly people.
