President Salih received Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili in New York City today, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings.
During the meeting, both presidents discussed further securing bilateral relations, as well as the importance of improving and broadening mutual cooperation in all relevant fields as befits two friendly nations.
Together, they also reviewed recent political and security developments in the region and around the world.

The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Washington is pleased to announce the launch of the "Study in Iraq" program aimed at attracting international students to Iraqi universities for the 2024/2025 academic year. The program offers 14,322 academic seats from 59 governmental and private Iraqi universities. 57% of these seats are allocated to full scholarships, while 43% are for partial scholarships. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has responded to President Barham Salih’s call to move its regional headquarters to Baghdad instead of Amman.
The Organization announced the consent following a telephone conversation between President Salih and the Director General of the Organization, Ms. Audrey Azoulay, in cooperation with the Iraqi Ministry of Culture.

The Embassy recently celebrated the conclusion of its summer internship program. We were fortunate to have five stellar interns who contributed to different activities throughout the summer, including participating in workshops about Iraqi culture, promoting tourism to Iraq and researching and writing about political affairs and bilateral US-Iraqi relations. We thank them for a wonderful summer!

45 artifacts were returned to the Iraqi Embassy in Washington by an American citizen, in an effort to give the items back to the Iraqi people.
