UNESCO Recognizes Recent Vocational and Technical Graduates

The United Nations Educational, Scientific, Cultural Organization (UNESCO) recently recognized 245 young graduates with business loan awards from the Kurdistan Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs under the program “Fighting Youth Unemployment Through Education.” The funds will aid individuals in starting their own businesses in Iraq. The program was designed by the Government of Japan.

Graduates of the program successfully completed technical, vocational and business training, with a focus on entrepreneurship skills to introduce the graduates to modern self-management techniques.

This type of program, vital to the future success of Iraq’s economy, encourages economic growth and creates jobs for Iraqis. Furthermore, the program demonstrates the success of education outside of the traditional classroom setting and provides a means for motivated individuals to achieve their dreams of success in the business world.
