Ambassador Faily was welcomed as guest of honor at the Diplomacy Matters Institute Ambassador’s Series luncheon, where he spoke about the rebuilding efforts in Iraq.

The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Washington, D.C., this Saturday, May 7th, welcomed a large number of the American public from (9am-5pm) during the event of the Around the World Embassy Tour. The embassy staff and their families have been keen to introduce the Iraqi culture, and they wore the local costumes that were admired by the visitors, and they presented the local Iraqi foods they made themselves, such as kelejah, zarda, qeema and rice, lablabi, and balango, which won the approval of the visiting public.

President Salih expressed his deep condolences and sympathy to the families of those lost and injured during a stampede in Karbala today.
His Excellency called on all Iraqis to care for the families of those affected by this tragic incident.
During a phone call with Nassif Al-Khattabi, the Governor of Karbala, the President noted his deep appreciation for the efforts being made by the local government’s various departments to ensure those injured could be helped and assisted as quickly as possible. The Foreign Ministry appreciates the positions of friendly and brotherly countries, international organisations, as well as the calls and messages that Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein received from his counterparts around the world of condolences to the government and people of Iraq following the terrorist attack that targeted the capital, Baghdad, on 21/1/2021, which left tens of martyrs and wounded.

Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari expressed Iraq's appreciation for the UN Secretary General's efforts to remove Iraq from Chapter VII sanctions and noted that Iraq has regained full sovereignty as an effective member in the international community through this resolution.

"We need and will rebuild Iraq; and we will turn the page on such horrific actions as the massacre and genocide at Halabja," said Ambassador Lukman Faily during a commemoration event at the U.S. Capitol.

The parliamentary elections law was passed when the majority of 222 lawmakers, who attended the session of the 325-seat parliament, voted for its latest amendment.

Upon the follow-up of Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein, and the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Kuwait, (6) tanks loaded with (150) tons of medical oxygen arrived to Iraq which is the second batch that Iraq purchased.
