I have been asked to discuss the state of relations between Iraq and the United States, and I will address this issue in the context of the theme for this year’s conference...

The Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halboosi met the US Vice President Mike Pence.

The meeting discussed the relations between Baghdad and Washington, files of mutual interest and continued cooperation between the two countries in all fields.

Efforts to eliminate terrorism, combat extremist ideology, eliminate funding sources and the continue of US-led international coalition to provide security and intelligence support to Iraq were also discussed.

H.E. Prime Minister Maliki met with Senator John McCain to discuss the security situation in Iraq; as well as Representatives from the House Foreign Affairs Committee on the challenges facing the region.

The High Coordination Committee (HCC) meetings between Iraq and the United States have commenced, aimed at activating the Strategic Framework Agreement. The Iraqi delegation is led by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning, Mr. Mohammed Tamim, while the U.S. delegation is chaired by Secretary of State, Mr. Antony Blinken.
