Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim received a copy of the credentials of US Ambassador to Baghdad Mr. Matthew Tyler. The two sides discussed ways to improve bilateral relations and the importance of enhancing cooperation opportunities at various levels to meet the aspiration of both peoples.

Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim received a phone call from Egyptian Foreign Minister Mr. Sameh Shoukry. The two sides discussed the most important issues at the local level, and the necessity of activating the common interests between the two countries.

The two sides agreed to continue consultations and bilateral coordination on Arab and regional issues in order to find political approaches that contribute to defusing tensions and maintaining the security of the region.

The Iraqi ministry of foreign affairs commenced its annual preparations for the Arbainya ceremony (to commemorate the death of Imam Hussein) in the city of Karbala by opening 16 extra consulate offices all over Iran’s provinces (Ailam, Sosnkurd, Abadan, Karman, Sari, Yazid, Karaj, Tabriz, Rashit, Qum, Shiraz and Asfahan) and supplied them with specialized employees with consulate procedures from the ministry to accelerate issuing visas for pilgrims, where more than 2 million visas were issued for Iranian pilgrims last year during the Arbainya visit, and it is expected to have 3 million... Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein discussed with the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Dr. Nayef Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf several issues related to Iraq, and called for the formation of a committee to follow up on the outcomes of the Kuwait Donor Conference and coordinate with the World Bank, and stressed the need to create a mechanism for joint work with the Gulf Cooperation Council.

Foreign Minister Mohamed A. Alhakim received French Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs Mr. Jean-Yves Le Drian at the Ministry's Headquarters in Baghdad.
During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations and issues of interest to the two friendly countries and the forthcoming visit of President Emmanuel Macron to Iraq.

Foreign Minister Dr. Ibrahim Al-Jaafari met with British Secretary of State for Middle East and North Africa Mr. Alistair Burt on the sidelines of the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly in New York. The meeting reviewed the progress of bilateral relations between Baghdad and London and means of strengthening them to serve the interests of the two friendly peoples.

Iraq and EU strongly affirm their shared commitment to peace and stability in the wider Middle East and call for the de-escalation of the current tensions in the region, reminding that the risks and the consequences may affect Iraq, the region and beyond.
