Foreign Minister Supports International Efforts to Restore Security and Stability in Libya

On 18 June 2021, Foreign Minister, H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein met with the Libyan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Najla El-Mangoush, on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum.
During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and means of joint cooperation.
H.E. affirmed Iraq’s support for international efforts to restore security and stability in Libya, and to resort to political solution to meet the aspirations of the Libyan people.

Iraq signed two loans from the ًWorld Bank

The Deputy Chair of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq to Washington DC and the Vice President of the World Bank for the Middle East and North Africa signed, at the headquarters of the Bank in Washington DC, on Tuesday 20th December, 2016 two loans, first of which is at the value of ( $ 1 billion , 443, 820,000 ) to support the Iraqi investment policy, and the second is at the value of ( $ 41 million , 500, 000) to finance public projects.

Iraq Joins the ICSID Convention: Announces Additional Incentives and Protections for Investors

Washington DC, November 17, 2015

The Chairman of Iraq’s National Investment Commission (NIC), Dr. Sami Al-Araji, today signed the Convention on the Settlement of Investment Disputes between States and Nationals of Other States (the ICSID Convention).

Iraq has become the 160th country to sign the Convention and the 152nd country to become a member of the International Centre Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID). The ICSID Convention encourages the flow of investment across borders by providing substantial legal protections for foreign investors.

IN RESPONSE TO PRESIDENT SALIH’S BID, THE UNESCO AGREES TO RELOCATE ITS REGIONAL OFFICE TO IRAQ

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has responded to President Barham Salih’s call to move its regional headquarters to Baghdad instead of Amman.
The Organization announced the consent following a telephone conversation between President Salih and the Director General of the Organization, Ms. Audrey Azoulay, in cooperation with the Iraqi Ministry of Culture.
