During his official visit to the United States, Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani met with U.S. Secretary of State Mr. Antony Blinken on Monday evening, Baghdad time. President Barham Salih welcomed Ms. Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, the Special Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations for Iraq, to the Presidential Office in Baghdad today.
The President emphasized the international organization’s critical role in Iraq, citing efforts the UN has made to support the democratic process across the country as well as highlighting the importance of Iraq as a potential trusted actor that could help reduce regional tension and consolidate international peace and security.
