An Invitation to Preserve Our Heritage: Handing Over Iraqi Cultural Works and Artifacts

In light of the Iraqi government's efforts to protect and preserve Iraq's cultural and historical heritage, the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Washington calls upon all Iraqis and friends to contribute to these efforts by handing over any Iraqi visual works (archaeological & cultural artifacts) whether original or replica, they may possess.
This call reaffirms the importance of our national heritage as an integral part of our cultural and historical identity, which requires all of us to work together to protect and preserve it.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has responded to President Barham Salih’s call to move its regional headquarters to Baghdad instead of Amman.
The Organization announced the consent following a telephone conversation between President Salih and the Director General of the Organization, Ms. Audrey Azoulay, in cooperation with the Iraqi Ministry of Culture.

President Receives Georgian President

President Salih received Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili in New York City today, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings.
During the meeting, both presidents discussed further securing bilateral relations, as well as the importance of improving and broadening mutual cooperation in all relevant fields as befits two friendly nations.

"Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemns and denounces the terrorist act that tried to target the Holy Shrine in Mecca. The ministry asserts Iraq's solidarity with fraternal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia against the terrorist gangs that targets its security and stability.

Such attacks reveal the deviation of the ideology of these gangs, which adopt radical terrorist approach, driving them to attack the most Holiest Shrines in Ramadan. A thing that requires exerting further efforts so as to uproot terrorism's sources of support and finance, and its ideological hotbeds."

PRESIDENT MEETS WITH US CENTRAL COMMAND CHIEF, MCKENZIE

Meeting with US Central Command Chief General Kenneth McKenzie today in Baghdad, President Salih highlighted the need to develop friendly relations between Iraq and US in addition to coordinate and collaborate in the fight against terrorism.
Furthermore, he underlined that Iraq will not be a theatre of regional and international conflicts.
We, therefore, seek to build good relations with all states and we have no interest in being dragged into conflicts not of our choice and making, President Salih added.
