Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani, on Monday evening Baghdad time, visited the Pentagon in Washington D.C., where he was received by the U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin. PRESIDENT MEETS WITH US CENTRAL COMMAND CHIEF, MCKENZIE

Meeting with US Central Command Chief General Kenneth McKenzie today in Baghdad, President Salih highlighted the need to develop friendly relations between Iraq and US in addition to coordinate and collaborate in the fight against terrorism.
Furthermore, he underlined that Iraq will not be a theatre of regional and international conflicts.
We, therefore, seek to build good relations with all states and we have no interest in being dragged into conflicts not of our choice and making, President Salih added.

His Excellency Prime Minister the commander of the armed forces Dr. Haider Abadi has confirmed the importance of not politicizing the Popular Mobilization Units, Indicating that the stories of sacrifice done by heroes of the Popular Mobilization Units and security forces must be documented.

This came during his visit to the Popular Mobilization's Assembly, while he has met with the officials of the brigades and directorates in the Authority, where he has blessed for the pilgrims on the occasion of Eid al-Adha and for completing their ritual, wishing them a safe return.

President Receives Georgian President

President Salih received Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili in New York City today, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings.
During the meeting, both presidents discussed further securing bilateral relations, as well as the importance of improving and broadening mutual cooperation in all relevant fields as befits two friendly nations.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has responded to President Barham Salih’s call to move its regional headquarters to Baghdad instead of Amman.
The Organization announced the consent following a telephone conversation between President Salih and the Director General of the Organization, Ms. Audrey Azoulay, in cooperation with the Iraqi Ministry of Culture.

Conference TARII

The Republic of Iraq welcomes the decision by the U.S. government to remove decade-old immunities that were granted to protect certain Iraqi financial entities and sectors from lawsuits following the collapse of Saddam Hussein’s regime.
