Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim received French Foreign Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Mr. Jean-Yves Le Drian.

The two Ministers discussed developing bilateral relations in various fields, activating the strategic understanding document for bilateral relations, and ways to enhance consultation and coordination between Baghdad and Paris.

Minister Alhakim stressed Iraq’s keenness to develop the distinguished level of relations with France, and looks forward to exploring new prospects for cooperation, especially in the field of economy.

Foeign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein met on Tuesday 10/8/2021 his counterpart Mohammed Javad Zarif in Tehran.

The Minister expressed his desire to work to support and strengthen relations between Baghdad and Tehran in a way that reflects their depth, stressing his keenness to maintain bilateral cooperation in various fields in the next stage to achieve the common interests of the two countries, and to activate the memorandums of understanding agreed upon with the Iraqi government.

Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim met with Finnish Foreign Minister Timo Soini on the sidelines of the ministerial meeting of the Global Coalition to Defeat Da’esh held in Washington.

During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and means of enhancing them to meet the aspirations of the two friendly peoples. The two sides also discussed regional and international issues of common concern.

Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein met with his Dutch counterpart Mr. Stef Blok and several officials and diplomats in The Hague on Monday evening, 26/10/2020. And they discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the interest of the two friendly peoples.

Minister Fuad Hussein thanked his Dutch counterpart for the generous invitation, and gave a brief presentation of the developments in the situation in Iraq, and the government’s efforts to address the many challenges, including those related to the Corona virus pandemic and its economic... Foreign Minister Mohamed A. Alhakim received a phone call from his Iranian counterpart Mr. Mohammad Javad Zarif, Mr. Zarif extended his congratulations to the Minister on assuming the duties of Foreign Ministry in the elected Iraqi government and expressed his hope that the bilateral relations will develop significantly during his tenure.

The Foreign Ministry through the efforts of our embassies deployed throughout the countries of the world, and with high efforts of the Crisis Cell and the Protocol Department at the Ministry since the start of the ban and closure procedures, and the suspension of flights have worked hard to transport Iraqis stranded in more than (22) countries, returned about (16041) citizens, by (81) air flights , (3) land trips in coordination with the Iraqi Airways , the Civil Aviation Authority, and the concerned authorities in the workplaces of our diplomatic and consular missions.

The Foreign Ministry expresses its surprise on the decision issued by the US Treasury against Mr. Faleh Al-Fayadh head of the Popular Mobilization Commission. We stress that the decision was an unacceptable surprise and point out that the Ministry will carefully follow up with the current and new administration in Washington all decisions issued by the US Treasury Department against Iraqi names and work to address this matter.

The President of the Republic of Iraq Dr. Barham Salih, Iraq’s First Lady, Prime Minister of Holy See Cardinal Pietro Parolin and Foreign Minister Mohamed A. Alhakim participated in the Christmas Mass held in Baghdad .The Foreign Ministry invited the heads of diplomatic missions and accredited international organizations in Baghdad.

Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein made an official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran, which began with a meeting with President Hassan Rouhani, followed by a meeting with his counterpart, Mr. Mohammad Javad Zarif, and with Mr. Mohammad Baqir Qalibaf, Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly.

This is the first visit of Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein to Tehran since he assumed his duties as Foreign Minister of Republic of Iraq, and it lasted for two days and began on Saturday 26/9/2020 and ended Sunday evening.
