Foreign Minister Receives Telephone Call from Secretary General of Arab League

Foreign Minister Mohamed A. Alhakim received a telephone call from the Arab League Secretary General Mr. Ahmed Abu Gheit, in which they touched on the last update on the Arab Arena and the preparations for holding the Arab Economic Summit in Beirut during this month, as well as discussing cooperation to enhance the relations between the Arab parties to serve the interests of the Arab countries.

Foreign Minister Receives his French Counterpart Mr. Jean-Yves Le Drian

Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim received French Foreign Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Mr. Jean-Yves Le Drian.

The two Ministers discussed developing bilateral relations in various fields, activating the strategic understanding document for bilateral relations, and ways to enhance consultation and coordination between Baghdad and Paris.

Minister Alhakim stressed Iraq’s keenness to develop the distinguished level of relations with France, and looks forward to exploring new prospects for cooperation, especially in the field of economy.

Foreign Minister Arrives in New York to Represents Iraq in 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly

Foreign Minister Dr. Ibrahim Al-Jaafari arrived in New York to represent Iraq in the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Dr. Al-Jaafari is expected to meet with foreign ministers, officials from several countries of the world, to discuss joint cooperation and strengthen relations and mobilize efforts to continue to stand by Iraq and contribute to the reconstruction of Iraqi cities.

Foreign Minister discusses with his Iranian Counterpart issues of common interest

Foeign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein met on Tuesday 10/8/2021 his counterpart Mohammed Javad Zarif in Tehran.

The Minister expressed his desire to work to support and strengthen relations between Baghdad and Tehran in a way that reflects their depth, stressing his keenness to maintain bilateral cooperation in various fields in the next stage to achieve the common interests of the two countries, and to activate the memorandums of understanding agreed upon with the Iraqi government.

The Foreign Ministry Holds Memorial Service for its Martyrs

The Foreign Ministry held a memorial service for its martyrs who were victims of a terrorist bombing in 2009.
The Foreign Minister laid a wreath at the memorial that the ministry held for this tragic incident, and delivered a speech in which he commended the martyrs, recalling the active role of Iraqi diplomacy in the fight against terrorism.

Foreign Minister Meets Finnish Counterpart Timo Soini

Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim met with Finnish Foreign Minister Timo Soini on the sidelines of the ministerial meeting of the Global Coalition to Defeat Da’esh held in Washington.

During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and means of enhancing them to meet the aspirations of the two friendly peoples. The two sides also discussed regional and international issues of common concern.

Foreign Minister : We Have Strong and Genuine Brotherly Ties with Kuwait

Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim praised the bilateral relations between Baghdad and Kuwait, expressing his appreciation for the positions of Kuwait in support of Iraq, the latest of which was presented by the Emir of the State of Kuwait to Iraq by donating $ 10 million to support efforts to combat Coronavirus
This came in a telephone call received by Minister Alhakim from his Kuwaiti counterpart, Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al-Muhammad Al-Sabah, who will deliver the sum to the World Health Organization in Geneva to purchase emergency equipment and medical supplies for Iraq.

Iraq off the EU list of High- Risks Countries in the field of combating money laundering and financing of terrorism

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs declares the de-listing of Iraq from the European Union’s list of high- risks countries in the field of combating money laundering and financing of terrorism.

This came in a letter delivered by the European Commission mission on 9/1/2022 to the Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhemi, in which it congratulated Iraq on the great measures and efforts that have been taken to improve the anti-money laundering system and combat the financing of terrorism.

Foreign Minister Meets Secretary General of Gulf Cooperation Council

Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein made an official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran, which began with a meeting with President Hassan Rouhani, followed by a meeting with his counterpart, Mr. Mohammad Javad Zarif, and with Mr. Mohammad Baqir Qalibaf, Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly.

This is the first visit of Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein to Tehran since he assumed his duties as Foreign Minister of Republic of Iraq, and it lasted for two days and began on Saturday 26/9/2020 and ended Sunday evening.
