Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim met with Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Mr. Adil Al-Jubeir on the sidelines of the Ministerial Meeting of the Global Coalition to Defeat Da'esh held in Washington.

The two sides discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, the overall developments in the region and ways to enhance joint cooperation in various fields and overcome the challenges particularly, cooperation to combat terrorism and extremism.

President Salih got today a phone call from US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

Over the phone conversation, President Salih and Mr. Mike Pompeo reviewed the bilateral relations between the both countries and the ways of boosting these relations. The importance of increasing stability and security within the country as well as dealing with the challenges in the ways that contribute to consolidating Iraq's security and its citizens' rights and reinforcing its democratic experience, they deliberated.

Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein participated on Monday 20/9/2021 in the annual consultative meeting of the Council of the League of Arab States at the ministerial level, which was held at the headquarters of the permanent mission of the State of Kuwait to the United Nations.

During the meeting, which brought together the Foreign Ministers of Iraq and Turkey, Minister Alhakim and Minister Çavuşoğlu , who discussed issues of interest to the two neighboring countries.

Minister Alhakim stressed the importance and depth of the Iraqi-Turkish relations, which extend to great social, economic and political horizons stressing that the two countries must coordinate all efforts to overcome the obstacles that prevent the establishment of balanced and sustainable relations. With the continuation of the popular protests calling for reform, and the issuance of statements by foreign countries and international organisations, the Iraqi government affirms the respect of the will of Iraqis to claim their rights guaranteed by the Iraqi Constitution in articles 38, 39 and 40, which prove the right of Iraqis to choose their government in accordance with the contexts in force in the Iraqi democratic system and their rights guaranteed in the Constitution for freedom of expression “without prejudice to public order and morals”.

Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim expressed his sincere condolences and sympathy to Iraqis, especially the family of the deceased political analyst Dr. Wathiq Al-Hashemi.
Considering that Dr. Al-Hashemi is a worthy patriot who left a clear trace in Iraqi reality, and a loyal patriotic legacy.
Praying to God Almighty, that the soul of the deceased rest in peace, and to be granted Paradise.

The Iraqi government categorically renews its rejection and condemnation of any act that destabilizes the security and stability of diplomatic missions in Iraq, especially what the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Consulate in Karbala has been went recently through.
As we draw attention to the government’s actions during the past few days in this regard, we point out the continuation of investigations to uncover the identity of the perpetrators and taking appropriate measures to reach the results.

received a phone call from Mr. Pekka Haavisto, the Finnish Foreign Minister and discussed the latest developments in Iraq.

Minister Al-Hakim stressed the importance of achieving partnership between Iraq and Finland , stressing that Iraq will not allow it to be a battlefield, calling for the need to respect Iraqi sovereignty and stop violations, and valued Finland’s efforts within the international coalition to fight Da’esh.
